Honor launches the first laptop with OS Turbo


Chinese electronics manufacturer Honor officially launched its MagicBook 14 on Monday. The new laptop is equipped with a 12th generation Intel Core standard voltage processor and comes with an RTX2050 graphics card. This is Honor’s first thin and light laptop adopting its Turbo OS.

The Honor MagicBook 14 currently costs between 5,499 yuan and 6,499 yuan ($811-958). It has an all-metal body and is available in two colors: Starry Sky Gray and Glacier Silver. The laptop features a 2.1K, 3:2 display that supports 100% sRGB high color gamut display and has an 88% screen ratio.

The MagicBook 14 has a custom built-in Magic OS operating system for the Windows system. With this operating system mod, the maximum power consumption can be reduced by up to 28.3% in multiple application configurations. In addition, the laptop supports wireless transmission of files up to 200 GB in one click from older computers, and should take about 40 minutes.

In terms of multi-device connection, the MagicBook 14 has functions such as screen sharing and multi-screen, including extended connections between different devices such as PCs and tablets, or between PCs and displays smart.

The laptop weighs 1.54 kg and is about 15.9 mm thick. It’s the world’s first 14-inch lightweight laptop with a 75Wh battery and supports 100W fast charging that only takes 80 minutes to fully charge.

In terms of heat radiation, the laptop is designed with dual air inlets which increase air intake areas by 31.7% and overall air volume by 35%. According to the company, the frame rate in game scenarios has been increased by up to 26.7%.

During the press conference, Honor CEO George Zhao introduced Honor PC’s new strategy. Zhao said that in the future, Honor will upgrade and transform the existing architecture and system based on soft and hard collaboration with partners and additional innovation.

According to Zhao, Honor has sold Magic 4 Pro and mid-range products in the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Malaysia, some European countries and Latin America. This year will be an important year for an overseas launch, after which the company can offer a full selection of its products in these countries and regions. However, Zhao also said that it took several years for Honor to regain market share overseas, and its development should be led by a flagship machine.
