Liverpool won their first trophy of the season on Sunday by beating Chelsea in a penalty shootout at the end of a thrilling League Cup final. It was their first win in domestic cup competition in a decade.

They haven’t won the FA Cup since 2006, when they beat West Ham United at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Indeed, it is only the second time that manager Jürgen Klopp has taken his team this far in this competition.

Klopp made 10 changes following the grueling encounter at Wembley. The likes of Divock Origi, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all starters, as is Diogo Jota, who was a substitute on Sunday. However, Thiago Alcantara, in tears at Wembley after a warm-up injury kept him out of the final, remains unavailable, as does Roberto Firmino. Sadio Mané and Luis Diaz are among the substitutes, but Mo Salah takes time off.

Norwich City have never won the FA Cup – despite reaching the semi-finals in 1992. They have beaten Charlton Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers in previous rounds, but their biggest priority is to avoid relegation and stay in the prime minister. League for next season.

Manager Dean Smith clearly has at least one eye on his side’s crucial clash with Brentford this weekend, with seven changes to the squad.

Andrew Omobamidele and Adam Idah are both out long term for the Canaries, while Max Aarons, Brandon Williams and Ozan Kabak are all out after picking up injuries. Captain Grant Hanley is suspended, but Tim Krul returns in goal.

Here’s how they line up:

Liverpool: Alisson, Milner, Konaté, Gomez, Tsimikas, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Jones, Minamino, Origi, Jota.

City of Norwich: Krul, Byram, Zimmermann, Gibson, Giannoulis, Rupp, Normann, Lees-Melou, Placheta, Pukki, Rashica.

Current form and history indicate that Liverpool should beat Norwich City. However, the home side’s hangover at Wembley could give the visitors a chance.
