Poco F1 gets Widevine L1, Game Turbo in MIUI 10.3.4.0 update: here’s what it brings

The Poco F1 is now getting a new MIUI update that brings the long-awaited Widevine L1 support. After installing this update, Poco F1 users will be able to play HD content on services like Amazon Prime and Hotstar. Netflix HD support will be added in a future update.

The MIUI 10.3.4.0 update for the Poco F1 weighs in at 515MB, and while the size of the update might seem average, it brings a lot of important features, changes, and bug fixes to the table.

Key highlights of the MIUI 10.3.4.0 update for the Poco F1 include support for Widevine L1, Game Turbo and 4K 60fps video recording. Xiaomi had added Game Turbo mode to the Poco F1 in a MIUI Global beta update early last month.

Turbo game

With Game Turbo mode, Xiaomi has tried to optimize available resources for an enhanced gaming experience. Note that features such as Game Turbo mode do not improve the smartphone in any way, but rather allow you to enjoy a constant frame rate for a smoother experience. That said, Game Turbo mode will enhance your overall gaming experience.

Xiaomi’s Game Turbo mode also adds an overlay that includes several shortcuts for things like connectivity options, screenshot, video recording and more. Besides that, you can also use apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook and more in windowed mode, allowing you to play the game and use those apps at the same time.

Widevine L1

Features like Widevine L1 support have been a long-time request from early Poco F1 users. While the Xiaomi subsidiary was quite responsive, adding Widevine L1 support still took much longer than originally expected. Even now, support for Netflix HD content is still lacking, so Poco F1 users will have to wait a little longer for now when it comes to Netflix.

Camera

The MIUI 10.3.4.0 update also brings support for 4K recording at 60 fps as well as new modes for the AI camera.

Various

Apart from these three main features, the MIUI 10.3.4.0 update also adds Face Unlock support for App Lock – now you can unlock apps using Face Unlock, which is a good thing.

There are also other screen lock and notification features, as well as bug fixes. The update also pushes the Android security patch back to March.
